  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I really need to use this meme because I have… 1603 books on my to-read shelf on Goodreads *hides*

Sooooooo it’s been 4 years since I’ve read the first books in this series and admittedly I don’t remember *anything* BUT it’s a retelling of Frankenstein and I… just… cannot resist them?

I have a thing : I hate starting series that will never get a proper ending, and it seems to be the case with Variants. Indeed the author announced that she would not go further than book 2, and from reviews I’ve read, I gathered that the story wasn’t tied up by then.

The truth is, I own both books in this duology but… I don’t know, I’ve tried to read them several times, and never managed to care? I’ll probably offer them in a giveaway^^

Oh, WOW. After reading several reviews that pointed to the sexism, to the lack of chemistry and relationships dynamics, and to the death of a POC character solely used to make the white main character look good in the eyes of the male lead (ugh, NOPE), I don’t have to think about it further.

Ahhhh I actually own this novel, and I enjoyed the first book a lot back then? (THE CAT SCENE, I MEAN!!) I guess I’ll have to keep it for now^^

TBR TOTAL : 1600

Have you read these books? Do you agree with my choices? Let me know in the comments!
